Buy, Sell, Trade

Hi everyone!!! I hope you’re ready for a nice hot weekend! I have definitely been enjoying my summer off. As you can see I have been MIA traveling around. I recently just got back from Mexico where I had a blast!!!! To kick off coming home I thought I’d round up some of my barely used clothes and head to my local clothing exchange in an effort to make back some cash spent on vacation. Ever since I have lived in larger cities, I have been frequenting these stores. Don’t know what a clothing exchange is? It is this amazing store where you can buy, sell and trade your gently used clothes!!! Crazy right?! I love going to stores like these because I never know what gem I am going to find. Below I have listed a couple of my favorite places to go!

CS_S_CrossroadsTrading

The first and probably my favorite is CrossRoads Trading Company This is a larger chain that you can pretty much find anywhere. My favorites are in Huntington Beach and Berkeley. They are always up on the latest trends and are very exclusive about what they buy from others. They take quality finds only and leave out fast fashion such as H&M and Forever 21. I find something each and every time I come in here. I am also able to sell and trade a lot here as well. Not having luck selling here? That’s ok. Sometimes you have to go to multiple stores to unload as different buyers have different eye’s; so don’t stop at just one. If you want to know what they are looking to buy then I suggest looking on their website as they post what styles and seasons they are currently buying for. My last amazing find here was an adorable pony hair Alex and Olivia bag that I’m absolutely in love with!!!! I also walked away with $140 in cash from selling my items.

2nd-Street

The next store is a recent find called 2nd Street USA. I went to the grand opening in Costa Mesa last night and was totally blown away. Apparently this store is extremely popular in Japan and has recently made it’s way to the US. New stores include Melrose in LA, Pasadena and now Costa Mesa. The fun part is that these stores distribute between each other as well as Japan! That means you could be picking something out straight from Harajuku!!! As I was walking through I noticed most everything was on a higher end side with tags still on! The price points were a little higher on more popular brands but considering that it was all pretty much brand new, I was definitely willing. The best part about this store was that they had TONS of authentic LV, Gucci and MCM bags for under $500!!!! Seriously that’s a steal considering the like new condition of the bags. I ended up picking up a brand new (tags still on) bucket bag from Japan and a straw Burberry cross body, all for under $100!!!! Also If you sign up for their news letter you can receive 10% off your next purchase.

Buffalo Exchange is another popular spot to buy, sell and trade clothes. I used to come here a lot but now find it hard to find something that is my style. While their clothes are in great condition, I find that they do speak to a much younger crowd. For these reasons, I have not been to buy or sell in quite some time. I will say that I always find great hats in here.

Lastly is Plato’s Closet. This store is great for those looking for quality on trend fashion and a very low price point. Plato’s carry’s brands such as American Eagle, Victoria Secret’s Pink, H&M and other current stores. I don’t often shop here as I feel that the style is better suited for someone in their teens and 20’s but I do love going to sell here. They have a great rewards system, they are fair with their exchange prices and buy a lot of what you bring so long as it’s in good condition and on trend.

As an avid shopper I definitely don’t discriminate if a top or dress has been previously loved as long as it’s in great condition for a great price. I don’t buy a ton of second hand clothing (mostly because sizing on what I like is always off) but I will say Second hand is a great place to find designer bag’s, shoes and sunglasses for crazy good prices. Next time you see one of these stores I urge you to go in and see what gem’s you can find. Let me know your favorite places in the comments below!

  1. You and me both! I love secondhand shopping. There are so many options and chances to wear clothes I could never afford on a teacher’s budget unless I bought them secondhand. Loved this article!!
